Step 1 of 5: Always choose the cleanest and flattest area possible for refuelling your machine. Lay the chainsaw down with the tank filler openings facing upward.

Step 2 of 5: Clean the area around the tank openings with a clean cloth.

Step 3 of 5: Raise the filler cap flap and turn the filler cap anti-clockwise as far as it will go. Remove the cap.

Step 4 of 5: Fill up both tanks slowly and carefully. Fill the fuel tank with the fuel mix and the oil tank with the chain lubricant. The see-through fuel tanks on the machines allow you to check the level at a glance. To make sure there are no spills, STIHL offers a patented filling system for fuel and chain lubricant.

Step 5 of 5: Place the two cliplock filler caps in position, turn as far as the stop and fold the cliplock down. This helps reduce the risk of unit vibrations causing an incorrectly tightened filler cap to loosen or come off and spill quantities of fuel. Watch out for leaks; if there is a leak of fuel do not start the engine (fire hazard, danger to life).
