Fast, convenient starting with STIHL 4-MIX

To make starting the STIHL 4-MIX engine easier, the engine has been fitted with a decompression system which extends the valve opening times when starting. Starting the prize-winning STIHL 4-MIX engines is thus convenient and quick.

Clear advantages

Less effort: The automatic decompression system reduces the compression pressure when starting.
Fewer pulls: The manual fuel pump (purger) reduces the number of pulls needed to start.

This is how it works

Before starting, the manual fuel pump (purger) floods the carburetor, thus reducing the number of pulls required. The clutch shoe cam opens the inlet valve and that reduces the compression pressure. As a result, the force on the cable needed for starting is reduced.
