More power and less pollution – that's what the STIHL 2-MIX engine delivers. The two-stroke engine with 2-MIX technology combines a cylinder with four-port technology and stratified scavenging. The result sets new standards: high torque over a wide speed range, fuel consumption cut by up to 20%* and exhaust emissions reduced by up to 50%*. The innovative STIHL 2-MIX engine complies effortlessly with the strict EU II exhaust limits for power tools.

The efficient filtering concept – long-life air filter system with pre-separation and a newly developed HD2 filter

The STIHL MS 261 chainsaw has an impressively long filter life which is five times that of the MS 260. This is because it is fitted with a new type of long-life air filter system with pre-separation to remove coarse dirt particles so there's less work for the actual filter to do. This newly developed HD2 filter is made from polyethylene filter material with up to 70% finer pores than fleece and polyamide filters to trap even very fine dust. In addition, it is oil and water-repellent and thus very easy to clean. The PET-covered round filter cartridge with quick-release lock enables the filter to be assembled and disassembled in next to no time, without using tools.

The innovative, professional anti-vibration system

The STIHL MS 261 chainsaw is perceptibly quieter. This is down to the perfectly matched anti-vibration system, consisting of Cellasto anti-vibration elements and special springs between the engine block and the handles. These buffer zones reduce the vibrations from the engine and the moving chain. The vibration level is 3.5 m/s², making the chainsaw easier to control and less fatiguing.

Low vibration saw chain - STIHL .325" Rapid Super Comfort chain (RSC)

The STIHL .325" RSC saw chain effectively absorbs the transmission of impact energy to the guide bar. That perceptibly reduces the vibrations transmitted to the user. It is also characterised by smooth cutting behaviour, low tendency to chatter and very good cutting and plunge cutting performance. This low-vibration saw chain is part of the standard equipment on the MS 261.
