Electrically heated handles
Maintenance-free convenience
In winter, snow and ice can form on the chainsaw handles, creating a slippery coating that can lead to hazardous situations. The electrically heated handle can be switched on if needed, for greater operating reliability even in very cold conditions. Both handles remain free from snow and ice and the user has a firm grip on the chainsaw. STIHL chainsaws with an electrically heated handle are indicated by the letter "W" in the model name.
The handle heating system consists of heating elements in the handlebar (1) and rear handle (2). The heating elements are connected to the generator (4) via a switch (3). The entire handle heating system is maintenance-free and not subject to electrical wear.
